Waste

The amount of unused biomass waste produced in the world today is staggering. Biomass materials constitute all plant materials grown in the soil or other mediums. There is a huge amount of agricultural, forest, and municipal waste that ends up in landfills that have become a potential hazard, and, under current processes, prohibitively expensive to eliminate.

Solutions

About 98% of the energy used by mankind today is derived from biomass which is solar energy stored in plants by photosynthesis. Plants store over 60 times the total energy consumed by humans annually. Utilizing this vast source of energy is one of Evergreen BioEnergy's goals.

Biomass materials left over from agricultural, forest, and municipal waste are ideal candidates for creating heat energy for making electricity and supplying  combustion energy to provide steam energy.  Most biomass materials contain between 7,000 and 8,000 BTU's per pound of material.  Since the relative density of biomass varies greatly, certain biomass material is more advantageous as a fuel because less volume of material is needed to achieve the level of heat energy required.

Evergreen BioEnergy has created a unique gasification system that converts biomass materials into heat energy with no harmful by-products. Co-generation makes this process efficient and cost effective. Co-generation is the simultaneous production of more than one form of energy using a single fuel and facilty.  Evergreen BioEnergy's fully automated, commercially sized gasification plant converts up to 72 tons of biomass per day which converts to a gross heat release of 72 megawatts of power or over 60,000 BTUs per hour.
